Party In The Park 2001 - 15/07/01 The event's happened and we were there, so how was it you may ask. Basically, "Party in the Park" is like a normal festival but smaller, with less to do, younger people and loads of mums and dads chaperoning their kids. As with any other event like this, the food was overpriced and pretty crappy, but the queues were huge and there was less choice. The weather wasn't too good either but at least it didn't rain constantly and it certainly didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits. As for the acts themselves, well some were good and some were bad! The highlights were probably Atomic Kitten, Supersister, Black Legend and Hear'Say, who appeared to actually be singing live, which was quite unusual for this event, I'm not suggesting that everyone else was miming, but most of them appeared to be. Hear'Say and Atomic Kitten were great and gave the crowd exactly what they wanted, but best of all were Supersister (Louise, Tina and Elanour) from Sheffield, who were full of energy and sang some fantastic happy pop tunes. They have real star quality and I for one see a big future for them and they appear to be pretty strong, Elanour said "We've been young girls and now we're women. We like our men and we enjoy our femininity but also like to be in control. We know what we want!!".
Overall "Party in the Park" was a pretty good day out and it looked like most people enjoyed themselves, I certainly did! Click on the "thumbnails" in our Party in the Park gallery to see a full size image!!
