‘Shut Up’ by the Black Eyed Peas; plus ladyeez with attitude anthems,
‘Independent Women’ from Destiny’s Child and ‘Right Here’ from
SWV – it doesn’t get much better than this. |

REVIEW
"LWA is a sassy collection of female Urban
artists, mostly from the last five years or so. It is a Kiss Presents..... compilation,
mainly culled from the last year or two utilising the mainstream lady playas, but
including one or two classic memory joggers and also couple of lesser known artists,
(albiet relatively).
The big name cuts are predictable but make
enjoyable listening, the catchy hits of Missy, J-Lo, Blu Cantrell, Lumidee, Mya, Eve and
Britney (although I am not sure in what way she qualifies as a lady with attitude). The UK
is well represented by Misteeq, Lisa Maffia and Ms Dynamite.
There is plenty to enjoy on the Soul side including
the popular end such as Aaliyah, Ashanti, Toni Braxton as well as some terrific cuts by
the likes of Tweet, Sunshine Anderson, SWV, Terri Walker, Amy Winehouse, Faith Evans and
Chante Moore.
Special mention, as always, for the omnipresent
Erykah Badu and extra special mention for the ever gorgeous Rosie Gaines, and the older
but nonetheless good track by Beverley Knight.
All in all a well rounded and listenable collection
amongst compelations where ideas are running thin." - Joanne Austin
