Dust @ The Bassment
"At the end of the night, the entrance fee, to
get into Dust, seems like an absolute bargain! The DJ's at Dust are friendly, always
pretty accommodating when it comes to requests, playing music that ranges from Hip-Hop
& Bigbeat to Rock & Ska, which results in a fantastic musical experience. As for
the booze - OH MY GOD!!, it's so cheap.
The clientele includes a variety of people
including Indie Kids, Skate Punks, Etc, but basically the club is frequented by a friendly
group of people with pretty open attitudes, and anything goes. The staff are also very
friendly and service, at the bar, tends to be on the faster side and after a few rounds
the staff seem to remember what you're drinking.
So, all in all, if you fancy a good night out in a
very friendly atmosphere, with loads of great music, then go to dust!!" -
Emlyn Hagan

SubDub @ Leeds West Indian
Centre
"Subdub is without a doubt my absolute
favourite club in Leeds, and here's why
- It's like breathing a huge sigh of relief and
escaping from the world once a month; I consistently meet lovely, friendly, laid back
people of all kinds - 100s of them, all in one place.
- I'm sure there are no laws at Subdub, except
that
- The bass makes your entire body vibrate, yet somehow
you can still chat to people
- The Irration Steppas and various other DJs/guests
play the best Dub/Reggae/Jungle you are likely to hear anywhere
- The second room is chilled out, beautifully
decorated and smells of incense (oh, and the DJ plays lovely dub music)
- The first time I went Horace Andy was performing
- The man on the door sends my friends letters and
upcoming dates
- There are a large amount of 'staff', who I suspect
are simply there because its so good
- It's in a community center (at December's Subdub I
saw old men playing dominoes in a side room - now that's good use of space for you!)
- It's the only club I've been to with people aged
18-60 (I'm guessing, but you get the idea)
- It's perfectly acceptable to have a nice chat in the
girls toilets, especially if you're a boy
- It's perfectly acceptable to have a nice chat
outside, there's even handy benches and usually some drumming
- Locals come down in the summer just to sit outside
and absorb the lovely atmosphere
- When Mark Irration asks if we want another tune at
4.30am, I suspect it' really HIM that wants the tune
- It never finishes at 4am, and never at the same time
two months running" - Catherine Tonge
