All Woman: The Platinum Collection

Breakthrough Breast Cancer presents
All Woman - The Platinum Collection

Release Date: 3rd October 05
Label: WSM

As part of the of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) in October, Warner Music has teamed up with Breakthrough Breast Cancer for an album that brings together the most prolific female artists around today. The promotion is set to raise in excess of £50,000 for Breakthrough’s vital research and education work, helping to bring women throughout the UK and beyond a step closer to their vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer. The aim of the campaign is not solely to fundraise, but also to raise people’s awareness of the real issues surrounding breast cancer. Currently 1 in 9 women in the UK will develop breast cancer at some stage during their lifetime, making it one of the biggest killers of women in Britain.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer presents All Woman The Platinum Collection features 50 tracks from the most talented, popular and successful female artists in music.

The 3CD set spans several generations of performers, from musical legends such as Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield to contemporary artists including Jamelia, Joss Stone and Kylie Minogue.

There are numerous highlights here but Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” always stands out as a classic pop song that has stood the test of time (anyone who saw her rendition of this classic at Live 8 will acknowledge that she is still is one of the greatest female performers). Eva Cassidy’s breathtaking cover of “Fields of Gold” is a delicately sung classic, as is Norah Jones’s “Come Away With Me”. Cher’s number 1 hit “Believe” is – like Madonna – a testament to the enduring talent of another of pop music’s most important women.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer presents All Woman The Platinum Collection is a ‘must buy’ for any music fan and represents an opportunity to make a positive donation to a charity that is close to everyone’s heart.

This is a fantastic album with something for everyone, plenty of upbeat tracks as well as slow romantic ballads, pure chillout and funky R'n'B. Pure pop comes in the form of Kylie Minogue and Cher, dance inspired tracks from Everything But the Girl and Dannii Minogue, ballads from Beverley Craven and Dusty Springfield and classic disco from Sister Sledge and Chaka Khan. This album has a song for every mood and every situation. A great album for listening to whilst getting ready for a night out or for chilling out to on a Sunday afternoon and everything else in between!

Particular highlights come in the form of Maria Mulder's Midnight At The Oasis, Randy Crawford's One Day I'll Fly Away, Tori Amos' Cornflake Girl, Carly Simon's You're So Vain and Norah Jones' Come Away With Me to name but a few. With every track a classic or a classic in the making this an album truly worth buying and in aid of a truly worthwhile cause". - Karen Hagan
